Small white houses spaced out between the fichi d'India and the olives: a village rather than a town, and a beach ... a day long dream...of memories and peace... You can visit the Emerald Grotto, situated in his enchanting bay, approx. 4 Kms from Amalfi in the direction of Positano. It is reached by public transport. Arriving by road visitors may use the stairs or the lift to the Grotto and back, alternatively the Co-operative ?Rosa dei Venti? runs a boat service from Amalfi to the Grotto and back. At the landing dock a lighter (a man with a lantern) introduces you to the cave which is transformed into a fantastic ?Emerald Temple?. There are numerous sturdy stalagmite structures rising form the sea, structures which logically could never have occurred the Grotto at some time had not stood on dry ground.
